Albie has been married for 45 years and has raised four adopted children and one grandchild, now adults. He has worked as a therapist for teens for 45 years. He loves the new perspectives that teens bring—he finds their openness and directness refreshing. He has always been a caregiver and has an intense desire to help people. There is a sincerity and openness about Albie that young people relate to—and they find his timeless empathy to be a significant pathway to healing.
He is a generalist and works with a large array of adolescent problems, including trauma, parent conflicts, drug and alcohol issues, depression, anxiety and anger. He finds that teens are often angry, depressed and anxious, all at the same time. Albie’s ability to connect and draw out his clients make him a particular asset to families in which communication is difficult. He is an expert in building bridges between young people and parents.
Albie is competent to treat many childhood disorders, such as mood and anxiety disorders, suicidality, and clients with histories of trauma. He excels at working with relationships and family issues on a wide spectrum.
Albie received his Master’s Degree in Special Education from Wright State University in 1992 and is a Licensed Social Worker. He is supervised by Betsy Coffman, LISW, Supv., ACSW, and works out of the Springfield office. Albie typically sees adolescent clients somewhere between age 11 or 12 and late 20’s. Some of his favorite referrals include Depression/Anxiety, Anger Problems, Suicidality, Family Issues, and Trauma.
