Husband, father, counselor, woodworker, self-proclaimed nerd.
Mike is the third of four boys, married for more than a dozen years and has three children: 9, 7 and 2. He is a lover of woodworking and problem solving, now having worked with clients of various ages and relational states for nearly 10 years, with specific training in couple’s therapy, healing from infidelity, dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. There is a comfort and openness with Mike that allows for meaningful exploration of symptoms and problems, looking for practical, spiritual and other avenues for resolution and healing. Forgiveness is a focus of his because of how important it is in our relationships and life in general.
His passion for making sense of the pain and sorrow life can throw at us, combined with a gentle spirit, makes Mike a capable and effective therapist in this world that never seems to let up. Faith often comes into the discussion and has been a part of Mike’s life long before his path led him to this career. There is a thoughtfulness and a willingness present to go with you into the dark and scary parts of the past, the looming unknowns of the future, and the often-overwhelming present. Mike is competent to treat and excels at working with mood disorders, anxiety, marriage/relationship and family issues on a wide spectrum, traumatic experiences, social issues, depression, and personality challenges.
Mike received his Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2011 and is a licensed professional clinical counselor. He works out of both the Springfield and Fairborn offices. Mike typically sees clients age 12 years old and up. Some of his favorite referrals include Couples/Family work, Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, and Christian Counseling.
