John has been married for 37 years and has three children, ages 36, 28 and 26. He is a very patient listener and tries to be focused mainly on the present. John is practically-minded with clients and doesn’t get bogged down in “a lot of psychological terms—I try to be real-life.” He focuses on what his clients are doing well. His is particularly enthusiastic about working with couples, and appreciates the give and take of the mediation process. In addition to couples and family therapy, treating adults and families, he has extensive training in substance abuse treatment and is now clinically active in supporting addicts in their recovery. During his 35-year career, John has specialized in Motivational Interviewing, Anger Management, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT).
John is a masters level social worker with supervisory status and graduated with a MSW from University of Kentucky in 1983. He works out of both the Springfield and Fairborn offices. John typically sees clients age 20 years old and up. Some of his favorite referrals include Seniors, Couples, Anxiety/Depression, Trauma, and Anger Management.
